Broadlink Rm PRO and Amazon Alexa Instructions with RM Tasker

Please follow the instructions below to get your I LumoS WIFI switches working with your Remote control, The Broadlink RM PRO, and the Amazon Echo via voice control.

Step 1: Synchronise your remote control with your switches:

WIFI On/Off Only Switches:

  1. Turn the lights off, with the lights off please press and hold on to the light switch button for approximately 5 seconds until you see a blue flashing light in the circle.
  2. When you see the flashing blue light, release the light switch and press and hold A, B or C on the remote control. D can turn off all Buttons paired to A, B and C.

WIFI Dimmer Switches:

  1. Turn the lights off, with the lights off please press and hold on to the light switch button for approximately 5 seconds until you see a blue flashing light in the circle.
  2. When you see the flashing blue light, let go off the light switch and then press Dim1, Dim2 or Dim3 (on the White Remote Control) or C (on the key fob remote control) once.

Follow the same procedure for any other Gangs the remote will use by using Dim 2 and Dim 3. Arrows directly under are for dimming up and down.

Step 2: Synchronise the Switches with the Broadlink RM PRO

  1. Connect the Broadlink RM PRO Device to a mains port in the range of your Router.
  2. Reset the device by sticking and holding a pin for 5 seconds on the side of the device where it says Reset and then let go until you get a fast flashing blue light
  3. Download the Broadlink RM PRO app from your app store, called e-control.
  4. Sign up for an account using the instructions on the app
  5. Input your WIFI password when prompted and create a wireless connection between the Router and the Broadlink device. If the connection cannot be made in the first attempt, please reset the Broadlink device and ensure that you are connected to the correct Router and not another Hub.
  6. Once the connection has been successfully made, please press the Plus sign on the top right of the app and choose Add Remote and choose the option you prefer from the following list. You may choose TC1 and TC2 for on/off switches, but we recommend using the User Defined option, which will allow you to add more Switches on the same page and create buttons for dimming when using the WIFI Dimmer switches.
  7. Once the User Defined option is chosen, choose Sort in Random, and a blank page will open.
  8. On the top right corner, press the setting button and choose Sort-add. Press the Plus button on the top left corner.
  9. Choose your icon from either taking a picture or from the icons gallery. It may be a good idea to choose the power button for the button used for turning the switch on/off and the negative plus signs for dimming.
  10. Rename the icon as you see fit, and press save.
  11. You can move the icon with your finger to any position on the screen and press save
  12. Press once on the icon choose to Learn Single, which will bring you to learning mode for the switch you are pairing the button to. Please note that each action, such as dimming and each Switch button, will need a new Icon to operate them individually. You will also require 1 Remote control for each Gang on a WIFI Dimmer switch, and for WIFI On/off switches, ensure that each icon uses a completely new Button with Remote control. This is important to operate each Gang Individually.
  13. When you are in learning mode, press the corresponding button on the remote control for the Broadlink to learn that action. Please ensure that the remote control is in the range of the Broadlink when synchronising.
  14. If the learning action is successful, it will ask you to Test the button to ensure it is working. If not, then please re-learn the action.
  15. Please follow steps 8 to 14 for each Gang.

Step 3: Voice Control via Amazon Alexa

To make the Broadlink RM PRO operate with the Amazon Echo, an app called the Broadlink RM Tasker is required via a 3rd Party developer. Unfortunately, this app is only available via the Google Play Store on any Android device. However, linking the Broadlink and the Amazon echo on an Apple device is being developed. We apologise for the inconvenience, as the app is 3rd Party, so we cannot control the devices it can be used with.

  1. Download the Broadlink RM Tasker
  2. Enable Alexa Bridge by ticking the Alexa Bridge setting.
  3. Click on Alexa Device List and add Alexa Device.
  4. Press Device name and create a Name for the command that you will be using, e.g. Kitchen Lights
  5. Press On command and select Single Device
  6. Select Learn New Code and press the corresponding button on your remote control once for the app to learn the signal.
  7. Test the button to ensure that it can send the signal
  8. Repeat the same process for the Off Command (Please note that for the I LumoS Switches the same button is used for the on and off command)
  9. Test the command with the Amazon echo by repeating the following command “Turn on Kitchen lights”
