Answers
The Gang Refers to the number of buttons a switch has. It is to identify how many individual lights or set of lights can be controlled independently from that switch.
The Way Refers to the number of ways the same light or set of lights can be controlled. 1 Way means that the switch can control the lights only from that one specific switch. For example a 1 Gang 1 Way switch can control 1 set of lights from only that switch. 2 Way means that the switch, when wired to another 2 way switch, can control the same set of lights from both locations. For example if you have a 1 Gang 2 Way switch on the bottom of the stairs and another 1 Gang 2 Way switch on the top of the stairs you can control your landing lights from both switches by being able to turn it on or off from both locations.
An intermediate switch allows 2 switches to work as 3 way by adding 1 intermediate switch between the 2 way switches. You can also add 2 intermediate switches to turn it into a 4 way system and so on.
The advantage of the I LumoS Touch 2 way switches is that all I LumoS Touch 2 way switches can also be used as an intermediate switch, meaning that you can set up 3 of the 2 way switches to create a 3 way system, or 4 2 way switches to create a 4 way system. This also has the added benefit of creating such 3 way systems where you can have multiple Gangs all working together. For example 3 4 Gang 2 Way switches can be set up to control all 4 buttons from all 3 locations.
The I LumoS Touch Switches work simply by Touching your finger on the desired button on the switch as you would with a Touch screen smart phone. A simple tap will tune the light on or off.
All I LumoS Touch Switches have a blue back-light when the lights are off which makes the switch visible in the dark. The Back-light is designed to only illuminate enough to make the switch visible in the dark and should not cause any nuisance. The Gang which is pressed will illuminate brighter when the lights are turned on to indicate which button is turned on.
The I LumoS Touch Dimmer switch works by simply tapping the relevant Gang once in order to turn the lights on or off. To Dim the lights down or Turn the lights up you will need to press and hold your finger on the Gang which is on. Pressing and holding once will either turn the lights up or dim down, and pressing and holding the second time will perform the opposite action. The level of dimming depends on how long the button is held. The longer your finger holds the button the lower or higher the lights will adjust.
The Advantage of the I LumoS Touch Dimmer is that the level of light that the switch was set on when it is turned off will turn back on at that exact same level. For example if the lights were turned off in a dimmed state, will turn back on at a dimmed state.
The I LumoS Touch 2 Way switches operate the same way as a standard 2 way switch and are installed using the same cables.
The main advantage of the 2 Way Touch Switches is that they require less cables and wiring than standard switches which makes them easier to install and saves on cost of adding more cables. The instructions for wiring can be found on our Technical Support Section.
To work out your Gang and Way requirements you need to establish how many set of lights you would like to control independently and from how many locations you would like to control the same set of lights. For example if you would like to control 2 set of lights from 1 light switch, you would need the 2 Gang 1 Way switch. Another example, If you would like to control 3 set of lights from 2 switches you would need 2 of the 3 Gang 2 Way switches.
With standard 2 way switches only an on/off 2 way switch can work with a dimmer 2 way switch. However with the I LumoS 2 Way dimmers only the 2 Way dimmer can work with a 2 way dimmer. The same applies to setting them up as 3 way. This gives you the added advantage of being able to turn your lights on/off as well as adjusting the level of light from both 2 way dimmer switches.
No. Only the Remote Touch Switches and the WIFI RF Touch Switches come with a remote control. Only these 2 switches can work with Remote controls.
The Wire-free Switch operates in the same way as the remote control. The RF frequency of the Wire free switch works together with the Remote Touch, WIFI RF Switches and the RF Receivers. You can turn a 1 Way Remote Switch into a 2 to 10 way switch by adding the Wire-free switches to the system
The Wire-free Touch switches are controlled in the same way as the Touch Switches and are battery operates, which makes them suitable for use in any room including bathrooms. They are mounted using screws or double sided tape.
The depth of our switches and sockets depend on the product type and can vary between 15mm and 35mm. Please check individual products for the recommended back box size required.
In the event that there is a shallow back box in the wall spacers can be used to allow for an easier fitting.
To Install one of our Screwless Switches or Sockets you simply need to remove the panel or the frame, screw the part to the backbox and then clip the frame or panel back on.
All switches and sockets Protrude by 9mm. All our products are Screwless and either the panel or frame is clipped on once the parts are screwed in.
The Glass or aluminium is 4mm thick and is the main attraction of our switches and sockets.
Our 1 Gang and 2 Gang Switches and Sockets all fit into standard UK backboxes, please check the depth required. We do also have 2 Gang Switches and Sockets designed for EU Backboxes, this can be requested if required. The 3 Gang and 4 Gang Panels and Frames require 3 and 4 single metal backboxes respectively. The 3 Gang Panels and frames can also be installed with the triple backboxes sold on our website when they are being installed into plasterboard.
Our Glass Panel Touch Switches can be used in bathrooms in the outer zones only. Our switches are designed to handle up to 97% humidity levels and the Glass Panel is an insulator, meaning it cannot conduct electricity to cause any harm when touched. We do always recommend using waterproof silicone around the edge of the switch to ensure water does not enter the switch when used in bathrooms.
All Touch Light switches, except the 2 way Dimmers, have a minimum load of 3 Watts per Gang and a maximum load of 700 Watts per Gang for halogen lights and a minimum load of 10 Watt per Gang and a maximum load of 400 Watts per Gang for LED lights. The 2 Way Dimmer switches have a minimum load of 3 Watts per Gang and a maximum load of 200 Watts per Gang for halogen lights and a minimum load of 10 Watts per Gang and a maximum load of 120 Watts per Gang for LED lights.
All I LumoS Touch On/Off switches work perfectly with non-dimmable LED Lights. Our Touch Dimmer switches do also work well with most LED lights, however due to compatibility certain lights may cause flickering. If flickering does occur then you simply need to install our LED adapters directly onto the lights which is designed to eliminate any flickering. The adapters work roughly 99% of times they are used and usually only require 1 to 3 adapters per circuit. The LED adapters are provided free of charge with all Dimmer Switches.
Unfortunately as they are designed for indoor use, we do not recommend using them outside.
Our Glass Panels and Frames are made from tempered and toughened glass. They are shatter and scratch proof and very easy to keep clean.
The I LumoS Remote switches work on 433 MHz and can only work with our remote controls. The WIFI RF Switches work on 433.92 MHz and on a secured Frequency to ensure that when the switches are being controlled using the Broadlink RM PRO the information exchange is done securely. The WIFI RF Switches also come with an updated version of our remote. Although it may seem that these 2 switches perform the same function, the way they work and communicate put them on 2 very different categories.
No. All our Switches are double insulated and do not require and earth cable. Any earth cable can simply be wired to the back box.
Only the WI-FI Pro switches require a neutral cable. No other I LumoS Light switches require a neutral cable.
LED adapters are only required in the event of flickering lights and if the load of the light is lower than the recommended minimum load of the switch.
